To help the most vulnerable people, regional organizations need to raise significant funds. This is notably the mission of Centraide Outaouais, which is celebrating its 80th campaign this year. The organization unveiled its new leadership on Monday morning.
The founder and president of Brigil, Gilles Desjardins, along with his two sons Kevin and Jessy, will serve as co-chairs. This is the first time in Centraide Outaouais’ history that three people will share the role. One of their goals will be to raise awareness of the organization among even more people.
Centraide funds services in mental health, food support, and housing assistance. Each year, it helps over 88,000 people.
“It was really an incredible opportunity when Centraide offered it to us. So, it was hard to say no.” – Jessy Desjardins, Vice-President, Development and Design, Brigil
The chair of Centraide’s board of directors explained that this year the organization wanted to innovate by appointing three people rather than just one. Centraide has previously collaborated with Gilles Desjardins, which motivated their decision.
“It’s fun to have young people like Jessy and Kevin, who I think will give a different image, a different color. They might also have more connections with young people of their age for Centraide’s cause.” – Élaine Dupras, Chair of the Board of Centraide Outaouais
Centraide will launch its 80th campaign on September 18 at the Canadian Museum of History Theatre. The campaign goal for this year will be announced at that time.
