Returning heritage treasures to the community

Built heritage is a testament to a community's history and culture, reflecting its evolution through the ages. Brigil has acquired several buildings of significant historical value. The protection, integration and enhancement of these buildings are part of the real estate developer's mission. As a socially responsible builder, Brigil wishes to preserve this heritage for future generations and make it accessible to all. Columbia Farm: building the future while protecting the past The construction of the new Columbia Tower is a concrete example of this commitment. The building, which was completed in September 2022, stands proudly behind Columbia Farm, a 200-year-old Georgian-style house that received its heritage designation in 1988. Like a work of art, Columbia Farm will be showcased for years to come.

69 Laurier Street: Preserving the History of Our Culture

Brigil also acquired 69 Laurier Street, located in the Quartier-du-Musée. The Edwardian-style building, constructed in 1921 and better known as Café Henry Burger, was long a favored spot for influential figures and food enthusiasts seeking the region’s finest dining. As a civic builder, Brigil intends to protect this gastronomic landmark, preserving a piece of the past as part of the legacy it wishes to leave for future generations.

Presbytery of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce

More recently, Gilles Desjardins acquired the Presbytery of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. This imposing stone building, designated a heritage property in 2018, is the last remaining vestige of Hull’s first Catholic parish. The civic builder’s vision is to integrate it into a signature upcoming project, once again prioritizing the conservation and enhancement of built heritage for everyone to enjoy.

Maison Belmont (Aylmer Country Club)

Another notable initiative by Brigil in the Aylmer sector is the acquisition of the prestigious Maison Belmont (Aylmer Country Club). Investments have already been made to stabilize the structure, protect this regional gem, and ensure its longevity.

Heritage Preservation at the Heart of Our Actions

Since 1985, the family-owned company has been proud to build a high quality of life while shaping the landscape of the National Capital Region. Central to this mission is the conservation and enhancement of built heritage, ensuring the continued protection of these symbols of our community’s cultural identity.
