Gilles Desjardins, Brigil : a major donation of $200,000 to Gîte Ami

Brigil reaffirms its commitment to the Outaouais community by providing $200,000 in financial support to the Gîte Ami organization.

This major donation was made as part of Gîte Ami’s Urgence d’agir fundraising campaign, in response to a call for support from campaign co-chairs Sébastien Brunet and Éric Charron.

This campaign aims to finance the new permanent Mon Calme facility on Marie-Le Franc street in Gatineau. This 20-room facility will enable Gîte Ami to strengthen its community action by offering a solution towards social reintegration for people facing difficulties related to social exclusion and homelessness in Gatineau.

“I was moved by this major contribution from Brigil. We’re well aware that the Desjardins family is in great demand, and has already contributed to many causes to support our community,” says Lise Paradis, Executive Director of Gîte Ami.

In 2022-2023, Gîte Ami recorded 1162 admissions to its services, testifying to the scale of need in our community. A 268% increase in the number of people experiencing homelessness in the Outaouais between 2018 and 2022 underscores the importance of supporting initiatives like Gîte Ami.

“Gatineau is seriously affected by homelessness, and has been for several years now. We absolutely must support our social integration and support organizations like Gîte Ami. That’s why I’m inviting the Outaouais business community to rally behind this cause and support the various regional organizations.” explains Brigil chairman and founder Gilles Desjardins.
