Hull Island will welcome the Outaouais’ first Montreal-style bagel bakery this summer. Located at 61 Laurier Street, across from the Canadian Museum of History, Bobino Bagel will be the destination for the tastiest bagels, craft beers, and local products in the region.
A nod to Quebec’s longest-running children’s television show, Bobino Bagel is located in the neighborhood of the real Bobino. Indeed, Guy Sanche, the actor who created and played the character Bobino from 1957 to 1985 on Radio-Canada, was originally from Hull.
The head chef at Bobino Bagel, Éric Auclair, a professional pastry chef, spent nearly two years perfecting his recipe to achieve a product of exceptional quality.
The opening is scheduled for summer 2023, and media will be invited to a press conference and tasting.
Bobino Bagel, brought to life by the creative team at Orkestra, was made possible thanks to a generous grant from the Downtown Revitalization Program, funding from Desjardins, and contributions from Brigil, the property owner.
Quotes
“There are a few years ago, the Orkestra management team decided it was ready to make financial investments in projects that excite the team and contribute to the growth and well-being of our beautiful city of Gatineau. We hope that the opening of a new destination for residents and tourists will contribute to the economic revival of our downtown. We provide our agency expertise and, for everything else, we rely on partners who know the industry perfectly. For Bobino, we leave the bagels to the professionals.”
Alex Van Dieren, co-president, Orkestra
