7 activities to do in Orleans

1. Petrie Island

This island will never stop amazing you. Explore its trails and discover its diverse marine life and flora by joining a tour with the Friends of Petrie Island. Enjoy memorable moments at their rest areas, cool off in the river and unwind on the beach.

There’s also a boat ramp, and the option to rent a light boat, allowing you to spend a few hours on the water at the Petrie Island Marina.

For more than 20 years, the Shenkman Art Centre has offered a diverse program of music and theatrical performances. Its studios and galleries often host exhibitions, as well as a variety of art workshops.

3. Princess Louise Trail and Waterfall

This urban gem is situated in the heart of a grove; between a residential district and the Saint-Joseph Boulevard. This 3.9 km trail is heaven for photography enthusiasts and birdwatchers. During the winter, it’s also possible to go snowshoeing.

Discover the old culvert and Princess Louise Falls, clearly visible from Saint-Joseph Boulevard, between Trim Road and 10th Line.

4. The Heart of Orleans

With roots dating back to the 1830’s showing proudly its French Heritage, the heart of Orleans is a dynamic neighbourhood that is powered by its cafes, shops and year-round festivals. Its central hub is, but not limited to, Saint-Joseph Boulevard, between promenades Youville and Prestone.

5. Orleans Heritage Home

Learn more about the rich history Orleans and Ottawa’s east end by visiting the Orleans Heritage House, headquarters of the Société franco-ontarienne du patrimoine et de l’histoire d’Orléans. The district is full of historic buildings and commemorative nameplates which you can explore through virtual exhibitions or simply by walking through.

6. Place d’Orléans

This shopping mall is perfect for all your shopping sprees. It features a variety of boutiques, grocery stores and superstores. There’s also plenty of restaurants that will satisfy your cravings!

7. Ski Heritage East

Ski Heritage East maintains a network of winter trails along the Ottawa River from Trim Road to the Aviation Museum. Take advantage of this natural setting to enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, winter biking, or simply walking.
